Picture it, rural Noval Scotia, 1954 and Grandma's sister in the Valley is ditching a gorgeous dress that had smaller buttons on the cuff as well as the matching larger buttons on it... the dress could be remade into something for her young daughter but there were too many buttons for a child's dress so into the tin with the extras.
The original button is most definitely vintage, if not downright antique, since it was pulled from Grandma's button box and she collected buttons, yes, in a Danish cookie tin along with a chocolate tin or 3, for decades until her passing in the late 90's.
