Dartmouth consists of 23 beautiful lakes and is world known for its rich history of paddling and rowing. Colours: yellow represents 3 rowing clubs on Lake Banook; red is for red clay identifies the rich history of the Shubanacadie Canal and the 3 main lakes it feeds into; blue represents the harbour which separates the two adjoining cities; grey represents the tragedy of the Halifax explosion in 1917, lives lost, people injured and thousands left homeless on that grey day in history, the Starr Manufacturing Company known for its production of metal ice skates and also identifies the oil stacks of Woodside where the flame no longer burns.
