Grey represents steel, from the very first nail placed in the tiny school house in 1841 to the steel structure that stands today.
The six black line running through the grey represent the five former schools and present school that we know today.
Surrounding the grey is white which marks Sydney Academy as an IB World and the many pages of books that have educated its students.
Blue and White are the much loved Sydney Academy colours which are worn by the many sports teams, clubs, and committees who proudly represent Sydney Academy with continued school spirit.
The grey in the center block has a special place, remembering the importance of the school Alumni.
Gold is the colour for the rich history of the school music program and remembering our school anthem "All Hail Sydney Academy", written by Leon Dubinsky and Robert Angel.
The small black lines represent 173 years of numerous teaching staff, support staff, volunteers and community leaders who have all helped pave the way for the future of Sydney Academy.
Finally, orange represents a flame on a burning candle welcoming future generations. This flame will always burn to remember and remind us of Sydney Academy students who have passed and left us far too young.
